2018 has been an interesting year for relationships. Interesting as in new and unexpected lows from people.

Casa Taco
I was looking for a new place to eat and found Casa Taco on Academy. It happened to also be Taco Monday which was a bonus. I started with the frito pie as a test item. If you can’t do this well we’re in trouble. It was tasty and spicy and worth getting in a larger group as it was a lot.
Then I had two of the monday beef tacos.
Fresh shells and a good beef filling, the same as the frito pie. I added some onions and cilantro before eating. Even though they were a little wetter than I like the shell stayed intact.
There are plenty of other items to try out so I’ll be back.

tsa request
@tsa @AskTSA I have a suggestion for those of us with precheck, Would it be possible to set up a site that allows us to see what hours at the airport the FULL TSA Precheck lane would be open? Not just the keep your shows on part but where i don’t need to take out my food, laptop, tablet, powerbank, laptop charger, kindle, etc. If i knew ahead of time that my time would get wasted this way then i could pack differently to make things more time efficient for everyone involved, even if that included showing up 30 minutes sooner to skip the hassle.
Just a suggestion. If anyone else likes this idea, feel free to share this or pass it along.

precheck
tsa to be specific.
these pictures uploaded i think they will show, but not as well as the picture i tried to take, that it can be worth the small amount of time and money, if you fly enough, to warrant getting tsa precheck or global entry. if my information is still valid, the canadian system of nexus is really prime since it is cheaper and gets you global entry and precheck. but global entry i don’t think gets you nexus.
these pictures should show the ridiculously short tsa line. and at this airport i admit usually the precheck line is closed. maybe i’ve been taking the wrong flights. you can’t appreciate just how long the regular line extends back unless it’s clearer on a bigger screen.

a geeky project
i installed a hue light strip and that left my light bar empty. so i set up a geeky project. on the specific day of the week, the bulb at that position will light up in the morning for a few hours. this way even half asleep i can look up and with a little counting i know what day it is. i will probably just add day of the week tags under the lights to make it easier but it also makes people try and figure it out so i might leave it as is.
for anyone who’s thinking the questions…
the thing on the far right is my Alexa named echo. and the last bulb slot hasn’t been assigned but i’m thinking of a color changing bulb that will change based on the weather forecast or the temperature outside. i think temperature outside will be more useful.

followup
It was interesting on the deplaning to see the number of bags that were similar and sometimes even slightly larger than my own that were allowed on and did not have to be checked. Poor job american airlines.
#firstworldproblems
It bothers me when a flight attendant automatically assumes that my bag isn’t going to fit overhead. If i’ve flown a route a lot AND i’ve taken a picture that shows my bag does fit overhead and they just are obstinate about making me gate check it, i find it annoying. She wouldn’t even bother to look at the picture. When her voice escalated i backed down immediately. No reason to get thrown off a plane this early in the morning. If there is plenty of time, how about letting me pass or fail? And then talking about it right near where i’m sitting is crappy customer service. #firstworldproblems #americaneagle #americanairlines
A quick post
Last year I came across an issue with a word that kept getting replaced by the auto correct. It was bothering me so much that I had to look up the word to see why it was being changed. Today for some reason it came back into my mind and now I want to challenge you to look it up yourself. It’s a common word that we use very frequently. But now you’ll understand where it came from, what it means, and I will wonder if you question it like myself if you should keep using the word. Continue reading

still a topic on my mind… if i order a large pizza for $16 vs a small steak for $20, where did we get this notion that the tip is more for the steak? when did the idea become about a flat percent instead of a flat amount, if anything? should it be thought of as the type of place? in theory at a fancy place the servers are getting paid more so should they get a smaller tip and those working at smaller mom and pop places should get more since their margin of profit is smaller? i still hate the idea of this American idea. good thing businesses are getting a tax cut. now we can let them pay their workers more and just stop tipping right?

Japan!!
I recently had the opportunity to make my way to Japan. It’s been a top contender on my tosee list for many years. I admit that I enjoy anime but I’m mostly mature enough to know and realize that it isn’t real. As a side idea, I like anime because of the character development and the story lines. In general they don’t take a good story line and run it season after season until you can’t stand it anymore and it dies a horrible and memorable death, marring the wonder memory you once had. I’ve been more interested in the ideas and beliefs that I hope translate from anime to real life like the connection to nature and family, the spirituality.
I’m working on copying my handwritten entries back to an online format. As much as I love my moleskin, the retyping kinda stinks. I’ve already discussed with someone the idea of trying voice dictation/translation on my phone as a way to jot down ideas and thoughts as they are happening versus writing when I have the time and filling in after looking at my pictures.
So hang tight folks and thanks to everyone that reads the nonsense that comes out of my fingers.
